Privacy Policy
What we collect through this website, why we collect it, who it goes to, and the choices you have. Written to reflect what actually happens — not boilerplate.

1. Who this policy covers
This policy explains how Smoko Finance ("we", "us") handles personal information collected through www.smokofinance.com.au. Smoko Finance is a business-finance referral service. We aim to handle personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
2. What we collect
When you submit an enquiry form, we collect exactly the fields the form asks for:
- Your first and last name
- Your email address and Australian mobile number
- Your business's approximate average monthly revenue band
- The funding amount range you are interested in
- What the funding is for (a general category, such as stock, equipment or payroll)
- The page you enquired from (which tells us the loan type, business need or industry you were reading about)
We also record the time of your enquiry and the IP address it was submitted from, which helps us prevent spam and abuse. We do not ask for, and you should not submit, tax file numbers, bank account credentials, or identity documents through this website.
3. Why we collect it
We use your enquiry details for one primary purpose: to refer your enquiry to experienced Australian commercial finance specialists so they can contact you about business funding options. Submitting the form is your request for that contact to happen. We may also use your details to respond to questions you send us directly, and in aggregate, non-identifying form to understand which pages generate enquiries.
4. Who we share it with
- Finance specialists and their lender panels: your enquiry details are passed to the finance professionals who call you back and, if you choose to proceed, to lenders as part of your application.
- Service providers: our website hosting provider processes and stores enquiry data as part of operating this site. Enquiry notifications are delivered to us by email.
- No one else. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
5. How we store it
Enquiries are transmitted over HTTPS. A copy of each enquiry is stored in a secure log on our hosting environment (outside the public web directory) so that no enquiry is ever lost, and a notification is emailed to our enquiry inbox. Access is limited to people who need it to handle your enquiry.
6. Analytics and cookies
This site may use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate site usage (pages viewed, approximate location at city level, device type). Analytics data does not include the personal details you type into forms; our conversion event records only that an enquiry occurred and which page category it came from. You can block analytics with standard browser tools and the site works fully without it. This site sets no advertising cookies of its own.
7. How long we keep it
Enquiry records are retained for as long as needed to handle your enquiry and to meet record-keeping obligations, and are then deleted or de-identified. If you would like your enquiry details deleted earlier, ask — see section 9.
8. Marketing
Submitting an enquiry asks us to contact you about that enquiry. We do not add you to marketing lists, and we do not send marketing emails unless you separately agree to receive them. Any marketing message we ever send will identify us and include a working unsubscribe.
9. Access, correction and complaints
You can request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing hello@smokofinance.com.au. We will respond within a reasonable time. If you believe we have mishandled your information and we cannot resolve your concern, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.
10. Changes to this policy
If our data practices change, this page will be updated and the date at the top revised. Material changes will be flagged clearly on this page.
This policy describes the website's current data flow. It is general information and should be read together with the terms of use.
